Lights Out, Original Acrylic Painting

The electricity was out. Apparently, the flowers didn’t notice.

I painted Lights Out during a ten-day electricity outage in March 2023. She arrived in a flurry...loose, instinctive, and so natural that I simply followed along.

Orange and yellow blooms rise through deep blue and purple, with lively green stems against a bold pink background. There’s a little wildness here, and plenty of life.

Born during a stretch of darkness in Maine, she brings her own kind of light.
