Billboards will shout at you. Clocks will whisper and celebrities on television shows will say your name. It’s all a matter of tuning in. The Universe is speaking to you, are you listening?
Case in point:
One recent Saturday morning hubby and I were spent. We’d had an early morning report that someone close to us was in yet another conundrum and in an atypical course of action, we used the entire morning discussing why this terrible thing could happen or that terrible thing might occur. Expecting the worse, we went on and on about the decisions that preceded the potential event an what an awful time was in front of us to deal with.
(NOTE: Even coaches and leaders get caught up in negative trash-talking. I was no exception this day.)
When my husband and I decided to run our errands together, we hopped in the car and headed to town. The car was running and so was my mouth. Until…the car coming toward me in slow motion spoke to me. If only you could “hear” the booming voice of the bright pink letters on the license plate that read: “BELEV”. GULP! I stopped speaking mid-sentence and my husband threw me a quizzical look. “What?!” he asked. “What were you going to say? You didn’t finish your sentence.”
But, I couldn’t. I shouldn’t. And, I wouldn’t. It was a magical moment that I would have to honor. When God (or a car) speaks, I listen.
When I caught my breath I said “You saw that, right? That license plate?”
“Nope. What did it say?”
I spelled it out for him and I watched his natural dimple grow deeper as he smirked and chuckled.
“God just spoke,” I said. “There’s nothing left to say.”
We both got quiet knowing that by discussing the problem we were only growing it.
How often have you been in the middle of a moment, ranting about the troubles and lost in despair so much so that you miss the messages that are flashing your way? It wasn’t long ago that I was in a *ahem*… a mood one day when the radio came on and someone used my name. I cried, the radio just spoke to me. My name is not common and the words were exactly what I needed. I’ve experienced this in songs, on television, conversations near me. All so random and yet so perfectly executed by God energy.
The key: to be open to hearing them.
Ask yourself: “Where am I not being open to direction?” Have a heartfelt talk with yourself and find out whether or not you are truly allowing synchronistic moments to guide you, to answer you. When you do this you will be gifted with insight and wisdom that is true to you. Your next step will be to acknowledge it. This acknowledgement is fuel for the Universe to keep sending that kind of information.
I wish you openness and guidance and I hope that cars will speak to you. If you want help becoming more open to your own internal guidance, I hope you’ll reach out to me.
